Girl Birthday Party Ideas - The Cake Decorating Party

Do you have a young daughter or grand daughter, and are you struggling for that perfect Girl Birthday Party Idea? It can be difficult settling on a theme, should it be a Princess theme or Mermaid theme, and then will all the guests have costumes? How can you be sure everyone will have a great time?

One great solution when it comes to Birthday Party Planning is to have a Cake Decorating party. This is great fun as all the guests can join in, and take home their finished efforts. So here is my plan for the perfect Cake Decorating Party for the Birthday Girl.
As with all parties, when you are planning the invites, do not just send out a basic plain invite. Consider how you can theme the invite, with pictures of cooking, chefs hat and mixing bowls. You can source images from the internet, or even draw your own images or have the birthday girl draw some designs, and scan then them in, and then design the birthday card on the computer.
If you are hosting the party at home, consider how you might theme the kitchen or room where the Cake decorating will take place. Lots of shops sell birthday parepheniallia, whether it is a card shop, The One Dollar shop or supermarket. Look for suitable cake celebration tableware. Or find plain paper table toppers, and decorate with pictures yourself. I would also look at sourcing some plain white aprons for everyone, to hand out when the guests arrive. It is a good idea to personalize the aprons, and this can be done with either a fabric marker, or, if you can find some T-shirt printing paper (you may find in an office supplies shop), how about an image of the guests or the party girl printed on the aprons. Chef hats are also a fabulous idea, and if you can find them will really add a sense of "dressing up". I would also personalize these and write the name of each guest on each of the chef hats.
You will need to do some preparation cooking beforehand. I would look to bake some small cakes, such as vanilla bundt cakes or fairy cakes. There are plenty of simple recipes that you can use. These will be the basic cakes that the guests will then decorate accordingly. Find some edible cake decorations. Your local supermarket is always a good source for little silver balls, M&Ms, sprinkles, icing sugar in piping bags, small candies, come plain chocolate (for grating). Once you have laid out the table, place all the cake decorating items in individual bowls with the prepared icing sugar piping bags and place them on the table.
When the guests arrive, hand out their respective aprons and chefs hats. At each placing there should be a little plain cake ready for decorating. The guests can then decorate each of the cakes accordingly, by taking items from the bowls and placing on top of their cakes. At the end of the party, the guests can all take home their decorated cake. (Remember always to make extra cakes for mistakes and for those cakes that get accidentally eaten!
For food prepare finger foods and simple snacks, and think about some party games they can play, with food and cooking themes. Pass the Parcel can be come Pass the Hot Potato, or you can have Egg and Spoon races. At the end of the party, all the guests should have a little decorated cake to take home. In addition, how about preparing some party bags with play-doh, mini rolling pins, measuring spoons cookie cutters.
When it come to the perfect Girl Birthday Party, this is one of my favourite themes, as it makes a change from the normal Princess or fairy Party, and the cake decorating keeps the kids occupied and entertained. You can also have a similar party with a Pizza Party, where instead of cakes, you make or buy some mini pizzas with bowls of cheese, tomatoes, pineapple, ham and various other pizza toppings. Then after the guests have finished "decorating" their pizzas, you can put them in the oven, while they play party games. When the pizzas are done, voila! you have the party food all prepared, thanks to the guests. One less job to think about.
With my own little angel, I seem to be attending kids birthday parties every couple of weeks. That why I started my own blog on the perfect girl birthday party, so for lots of fabulous girl birthday party ideas check it out:
