I have always enjoyed watching the cake decorating challenges on TLC, the talent these individuals have is amazing. I realized though that all of these contestants had to be a beginner cake decorator at one time or another. A few years ago I decided I too would like to learn how to decorate cakes, but since I live in a smaller city we did not have any classes nearby. I decided I would try to teach myself how to decorate a cake with the help of cake decorating books.

Cake Decorating for the Beginner
Cake decorating can be a great hobby and a great way to make a party special. It is not however an easy skill to learn. It takes a lot of practice to get good at it and it will take years before you can do the elaborate designs that you see in the magazines. Beginners are going to want to keep things simple and work on learning the basic skills. There are a few things that will really help you to get the best results when you are first starting out.
